Feed station at opposite end of field: any value?

Regarding game strategy: has anyone given any thought to the value of the feed station at the opposite end of the field from the alliance station?  There should be lots of fuel balls as the opposition alliance has the top basket in the ball return system from the boiler.  Only the overflow from that bin goes into the two bins on the floor that an alliance can use at their own feed stations on the corner opposite their boiler.  Problem is that it's a long way down the field and the other alliance's robots will be driving around down there; expect heavy challenges trying to get to the feed station and away from it.

My take is that with an efficient floor pickup, there's no net positive value on planning to get fuel from the far end station.  But you can deprive the other alliance of the fuel balls going in their boiler if you use it; their bins won't fill up if you're emptying your bin frequently.  Maybe a strategy if an alliance is depending on top loading of fuel?
