Title: Using the Scouting Laptops
Post by: Lucas V on February 06, 2017, 06:50:48 PM
So they're laptops, which means they don't have a USB-OTG slot, which means debugging on them requires re-building the apk every time and updating the app via flash drive. Is it possible to get male-to-male USB cables to debug the laptops with?

Also, it's awesome that we have keyboards for scouting this year, and it would be really cool if we could have mice as well. There's no surface for scouts to rest mice on during events other than the laptop itself, so the mice would have to be small. But, that may end up being better than some of these touchpads. These mice should probably be wired. Is this possible?

The idea of using a tablet was to make it self-contained - easy to carry and store. Adding a mouse breaks that model and leads to one more thing to drag/dangle around. Before we go the mouse route, try out the chromebooks as is.
