Work today brings the "dump truck" close to completion.  Remaining things to be done:

  • Bottom plexiglass plate needs to be cut to length (now that we know where the back of the intake ramp hits), and then be fastened down to the box frame. Four screws, one on each side, one in the cross support member, and one in the back should suffice.

All the fasteners need to be taken out, and the nuts replaced with nylocs.  While disassembled, all the sharp edges on the aluminum box elements need to be addressed for safety before reassembly.  All the lexan needs to be "peeled".

Lexan panels for the ball lift mechanism are cut, but need to be mounted.

Lower sidewall supports need to be mounted.  These are cut, marked where they go on the outside of the bottom frame and the lexan wrapper on all four sides.  Low strength 6-32 screws should suffice to mount them.  These keep the bottom of the walls from bowing out.

Motor mount for the ball lift mechanism needs to be fabricated and positioned. Lift mechanism arms need to be fabricated.  A curved slot in the side of the box, for the lever arm mechanism to connect to the ball lift plates, needs to be designed and cut.  This will extend into the aluminum vertical support.

Two hinges (already fabricated) need to be mounted on the front of the box, on the front aluminum verticals supports.  These may need to be mounted to frame on "blocks", above the level of the frame itself so that the box can hinge forward over the new, higher front frame member.  A corresponding "latch" (looks a lot like the hinges) needs to be mounted on the back of the box to hold it down on the frame.  Design is such that the whole box can hinge forward to provide easy access to the electronics beneath.

Servo for the front drop down plate needs to be mounted and connected to the panel.
